5 Cons of Buying a New Development

Posted by Jayson Ang on March 4, 2024

Luxury properties in Districts 9 and 10 of Singapore are highly coveted, and for good reason. From stunning views and prime locations, to top-notch amenities and an affluent lifestyle, there are many reasons to consider investing in a luxury property in these districts. However, when it comes to choosing between a new development and a resale, there are pros and cons to consider. In today’s episode, we’ll delve into the five key cons of buying a new development in Districts 9 and 10, to help you make an informed decision.

  1. Higher Prices: One of the main cons of buying a new development is that these properties are often priced higher than resale properties. This can make it difficult for buyers to get a good deal, as they are paying more for a property that has yet to be built. In addition, new developments are often priced based on location and other factors that may not be known until the development is completed.
  2. Longer Wait Time: Another downside of buying a new development is that it can take several years for the development to be completed. This can be a long wait for buyers who are eager to move into their new home, and it can also be difficult for buyers to plan for the future when they are unsure of when their property will be ready.
  3. Uncertainty: One of the biggest risks of buying a new development is the uncertainty that comes with it. New developments may not live up to their promises, and buyers may find that they have made a poor investment. This can be particularly true if the development is not completed on time or if the property is not finished to the standards that were promised.
  4. Hidden Costs: When buying a new development, there may be additional costs involved that are not immediately obvious. For example, buyers may be required to pay higher maintenance fees, which can add up over time.
  5. Not Being to See Actual Unit: Choosing a unit is entirely based on the floor plans and brochures on paper. For some people, it may be difficult to imagine the feel of what they are buying. But thankfully, there are virtual tour technology that helps to bridge up the game

Hello,
