Top 5 : Best Hidden Beaches in Singapore

Singapore, a bustling city-state known for its modern architecture and vibrant culture, is also home to some of the most beautiful and hidden beaches. These lesser-known gems offer a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle, providing visitors with a chance to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of Singapore’s coastline.

We will explore the top 5 best hidden beaches in Singapore that are perfect for a relaxing day out.

1. Lazarus Island:

One of Singapore’s best-kept secrets, Lazarus Island boasts a serene, undeveloped beach that you can almost call your own. To claim the sands for yourself, take the first ferry out at 9am on weekends and 10am on weekdays. Other beachgoers descend around lunchtime in their yachts and speedboats, but the tranquility of this island remains unparalleled.

2. St. John’s Island:

Another offshore island far away from Singapore’s buzz, St. John’s Island has everything a beach lover could want. Take a dip in the ocean, grill up a barbecue in the picnic area, or visit the Sisters’ Islands Marine Park Public Gallery. To get to the island, just board a boat at Marina South Pier, with ticket booths closing at 3pm daily.

3. Coney Island:

Follow the markers along the main trail that goes through Coney Island and take a turn that will lead you to one of the hidden beaches on the island (we recommend Beach Area C). Expect to walk through bushes, trees, and even a mangrove boardwalk to get there. Though we wouldn’t encourage sunbathing and picnicking due to native macaques, it’s a pretty idyllic spot for a breather before you head back to finish your trek.

4. Sembawang Beach:

Sembawang Park’s beachside locale is perfect for a lazy weekend picnic. While fishing is a popular pastime here, many can be seen crowding around barbecue pits and picnic tables sprinkled along the coast. Alternatively, flap out your picnic mat here and have yourself a feast at one of the country’s last remaining natural beaches.

5. Tanjong Rimau Beach:

Located near the western edge of Sentosa, Tanjong Rimau beach can be accessed via the edge of the compound occupied by Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa. During low tide, you can spot marine creatures such as starfish and crabs along the coastline. Walk along the tidal pools, mangrove trees, and caves nearer the coastline, and look out for the pitcher plants on the cliffs. Visits to Tanjong Rimau are only available through guided tours by Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) or SDC-approved tours.

Singapore’s hidden beaches offer a unique and tranquil experience away from the city’s fast-paced lifestyle. These top 5 best hidden beaches in Singapore provide an opportunity to reconnect with nature, enjoy the sun and sea, and create unforgettable memories. So pack your bags, grab your sunscreen, and embark on an adventure to discover these beautiful and secluded spots that await you in Singapore.
